Chris and the local guides on the trip did an amazing job of transporting us safely, guiding us through incredible terrain, educating us about the flora, fauna and ecosystems of the regions we explored, exposing us to the colorful flavors, and introducing us to the beautiful and welcoming people of Colombia. With Chris’ detailed and coordinated efforts, expertise, care and patience, we had a chance to enjoy a unique and rich experience. Chris was very patient with all of us, and we thank him for that.

We had a specific time to bird, and Colombia Birdwatch arranged a flawless tour for a private group of birders. Every day brought joy to our hearts as we saw amazing birds. The guides were extremely competent, pleasant, and spoke English without problems. Traveling around Colombia, we always felt safe. After returning home from 13 days of birding, I wanted to immediately go back (and use Colombia Birdwatch again!)

Each day of our Colombia Birdwatch tour was packed with amazing experiences that not only included spectacular birding but also opportunities to meet and converse with the warm and welcoming people of Colombia, sample tasty local cuisine, drink with impressive Andean views, walk gorgeously flowering jungle paths, and to learn about and be fascinated by this vibrant and colorful country.

Other tour operators have said it is impossible to accommodate photographers, birders and culture seekers in the same trip. Chris balanced it all! Every participants needs were met on our fantastic tour!

This was our first experience birding in Colombia. We were well-taken care of by our leader, guide, and driver while we explored many beautiful ecozones in the southern Andes. Chris did a great job of ensuring that everyone in our group got to see as many of the incredible birds and mammals as possible, while sharing his passion for the people and land of Colombia.

Colombia Birdwatch offers very high quality tours that focus on seeing wide range of bird species. They choose very good accommodations, buses, drivers and sites to visit. The use of local guides provide a richer experience about culture and immediate area, and are well versed in regional birds.

Colombia Birdwatch provided our party of three, which included our 10-year old granddaughter, with an outstanding five-day, four-nights birding experience in the western Choco bioregion! Chris Calonje was extremely accommodating to our needs and wishes, young tour leader Jose Luna Solarte is a superb and remarkably knowledgeable birder, and driver Uber Jaramillo is now a life-long friend! We had a fantastic small group trip with Colombia Birdwatch on a tour of the Western and Central Andes.
